NL charity in Nepal child sex abuse probe
The Dutch director of a children’s home in Nepal has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing youngsters in his care. Local children’s rights organisation CWIN, which initiated the investigation into Henk Molhuysen, says the police believe the man abused almost all 48 children at the home.
Police have seized his computer and are investigating whether he is guilty of distributing child pornography.
The home for street kids was set up in 2003 and is financed by the Dutch Hamro Jivan Foundation.
The organisation is afraid that the home will be closed down and the children turned back onto the streets. But another charity, ChildRight said on Thursday that it would make funds available to avoid this happening. The home is currently being run by a 19-year-old Dutch volunteer.
