European Muslims face discrimination

Europe’s 15 million Muslims face deeply-rooted discrimination in education, employment and housing, according to an EU report out today which includes interviews with Dutch Muslims.

The report, which calls for tough action from governments, includes an interview with a Dutch Muslim girl who says she is constantly being asked when she is going back. ‘I was born in Rotterdam, so where should I go?’ the girl asks.
The report also quotes a man living in Holland: ‘They don’t care if I am a teacher or a father. The most important thing [as far as the Dutch are concerned] is that I am a Muslim. So they ask whether I’m liberal or a fundamentalist.’
