Birth defect abortions under spotlight

Junior health minister Clemence Ross has announced an inquiry into the reasons why women have abortions. She wants to know if better prenatal diagnostic techniques have led to an increase. TV programme De Ochtenden reported today that it knew of three cases in which the aborted baby had a small birth defect, such as a hare lip.
