Anger over police academy boss travel
Labour MPs have demanded home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst explain why the head of the police academy is taken from his home in Alphen aan den Rijn near Leiden to the academy in Apeldoorn every day by a driver who lives in Drachten in Friesland.
The total round trip of 680 km a day is paid from the academy’s budget, the Telegraaf reports.
The appointment of former armed forces chief Ad van Baal in 2007 was also the subject of much controversy because he is paid more than the prime minister.
